How big is the group?

Maximum eight. Most departures run at four to six, which suits the studio visits and keeps the sauna evening intimate.

Is Helsinki expensive?

It is not cheap, but it is honest. Lunches run 15 to 25 EUR, a good dinner 50 to 80. Coffee is excellent everywhere and rarely above 5 EUR.

No. English is spoken fluently across Helsinki. Our guide switches between English, German, and Finnish as needed.

What about the weather?

Summer days are long and mild (18 to 24 degrees Celsius). Rain is possible any day, so a light waterproof layer is wise. The sauna evening works in any weather.

Yes, from age 6. Suomenlinna delights children, the chocolate factory in Porvoo is a highlight, and the sauna evening can be adjusted for families.

Can I extend the trip?

Easily. We can add a night for Nuuksio National Park (45 minutes from Helsinki) or connect onward to Tallinn by fast ferry.

Arrival and the harbour quarter

Arrive at Helsinki-Vantaa. A 30-minute transfer to your hotel in the Design District. Evening orientation walk along the South Harbour, past the Uspenski Cathedral and Market Square. Welcome dinner at a New Nordic restaurant on Etelaesplanadi.

Helsinki greets you with space and light. The city sits on a peninsula, water on three sides, and even in summer the air carries a coolness off the Baltic. Your hotel is inside the Design District, a loose grid of 25 streets between Esplanadi park and the old harbour where two hundred studios, showrooms, and workshops sit between residential blocks. Tonight is an introduction, not an itinerary. We walk the harbour at the hour when the market stalls close and the light softens, then sit down to a dinner that sets the tone for the days ahead.

Suomenlinna & Porvoo

Sea fortress and wooden Porvoo

Morning ferry to Suomenlinna. Walk the fortress ramparts, visit the dry dock and two artists' studios open by arrangement. Return to the mainland for a transfer east to Porvoo. Walk the ochre shore houses, the medieval cathedral, and a small chocolate factory. Return to Helsinki for a traditional sauna evening with a lake swim at Loyly.
