Chopin Airport sits about ten kilometres south of central Warsaw. It is a straightforward arrival, well served by train and bus, and we will tell you when those are the better answer.

A lot of Baltic itineraries begin here, because the flights are cheap and frequent, and then continue north by road through Augustow to Vilnius. If that is your plan, a driver who meets you at arrivals and can also do the long leg two days later is worth having.

- How far is Warsaw Chopin Airport from the centre?
- About ten kilometres, or roughly twenty-five minutes by car depending on traffic. Warsaw traffic is heavier than anything in the Baltic capitals, so allow more at rush hour.
- Is the train from Warsaw airport good?
- Yes. The S2 and S3 city trains run from beneath the terminal to the central stations in about twenty minutes for a few zloty. If you are travelling light in daylight, it is the better choice and we will say so.
- Do I need Polish currency?
- Yes, for the train and small purchases. Poland uses the zloty, not the euro, so a Baltic trip that starts or ends in Warsaw involves one currency change. Cards work almost everywhere.
- Can you drive us from Warsaw to Vilnius?
- Yes. It is about seven hours door to door through the Polish lake district, with no border formalities. It is a popular way to start a Baltic trip on cheap Warsaw flights.
- Is the price per person?
- No. It is the total for the vehicle, covering up to three travelers with luggage in a sedan, including fuel, tolls, parking and the driver.
