The story in one paragraph

Kraków in Depth, at the pace of a long read.

Rynek Główny changes character from dawn to midnight, and we time three visits to catch all of it.

Stay in a heritage hotel inside the Planty ring and let a private historian open Kraków at its own pace. Walk Kazimierz and its seven synagogues, take Wawel Hill before the queues, and descend into the Wieliczka salt mine to the rock-salt Chapel of St Kinga.

Why this trip.

Four things that set it apart
01

Rynek Główny at every hour

Europe's largest medieval market square changes character from dawn to midnight. We time three visits: early-morning light with almost nobody there, midday under the Cloth Hall arcades, and evening when the trumpet call sounds from St Mary's tower.

02

Kazimierz, the old Jewish quarter

A full morning with a local historian through the seven synagogues, the Galicia Jewish Museum, and the streets where Spielberg filmed. Lunch at one of the neighbourhood's small Polish-Jewish kitchens.

03

Wieliczka underground

A private guide through 700 years of salt mining, 135 metres below the surface. The Chapel of St Kinga alone, carved entirely from rock salt, is worth the descent.

04

Wawel Hill, at your own pace

We book the royal apartments and the cathedral crypt for early morning, before the queues form. The rest of the hill is yours to explore: the dragon's den, the river walk, the courtyard arcades.

Day by day.

5-day itinerary · approx. 48 km

Each day is built around one or two anchor experiences with deliberate slack for free time. Departure timings adjust slightly with daylight and weather.

01arrival
Kraków, Poland

Arrival in the Old Town

Arrive at KRK. A 20-minute transfer to your hotel inside the Planty ring. Evening orientation walk through Rynek Główny as the trumpet call sounds from St Mary's tower, then a welcome dinner in a 14th-century cellar beneath the square.

Your driver meets you at arrivals and takes you directly to the hotel, a converted merchant house on a quiet lane off the main square. Check in, settle, then step outside. The Old Town is tiny enough to walk end to end in fifteen minutes, but we will take an hour. The route passes the Cloth Hall, the Town Hall Tower, and the Florian Gate before looping back to the square in time for the trumpet call at the top of the hour. Dinner is in a brick-vaulted cellar that has served food since the 1300s.
